Fair amount of sediment when decanted, with slight in glass upon finish. To the nose, the solid fruit upon decant dissipated over 30 minutes, leaving slight dark fruit, slight oak and very slight smoke remaining. On the palate, blackberry more than plum more than black cherry for fruit, with fair amount of spice (allspice, cinnamon). Tannins in thin, fine threads, barely present. Medium mouthfeel and medium-short length for Western merlot. Alcohol at 14.5% but not hot. Perhaps past prime; drink now.

Maroon color (hint of brick color). Opaque with the slightest hint of sediment. Medium dry to dry. Scents of leather, mulch, oak, spices, plum, and crushed berries. Still a little tannic, but pleasant.

Dark berry nose, medium body, medium alcohol, long semi fast legs, medium finish. Soft tannins that taken some time to come in. Very good.

Good varietal character and tannins buried under plush oak with a Hershey Bar finish. Good if you enjoy this style, but I don't.
