  • Popped and poured Friday night. Initial aromas of blackberry, blueberry and vanilla. Medium to full bodied w/matching flavors and a creme brulee texture which is good, on Day 1. Day 2 watching the Oregon Ducks take on the Arizona State Sundevils, this wine has opened a tad, but is hot and unbalanced even more so than yesterday. '04 was a challenging vintage in Walla Walla, w/a pretty heavy freeze, this wine reflects that, I think. Good, but lacking balance, refinement and intensiity. Drink up, will not improve, but still nice w/7 years under its belt.

  • Decanted 1.5 hours before drinking. Agree with other posters on dark plum & blackberry dominating the fruit profile throughout each taste & throughout the decanter. But many secondary flavors -- most of them subtle & delicate -- changed positions. A hint of violet on the nose was soon almost gone. First some noticeable oak, but this integrated after the first glass. Then a touch of game, white pepper, and rich mocha at the beginning, with the latter starting to shoulder the others aside about halfway through the decanter. Not a huge finish, but a long one. Smooth tannins, just enough acidity, making it good with the food, but pretty good for just sipping, too. Probably near its peak, but should hold for several more years.

  • Popped and poured, had this along w/a Forgeron '02 syrah. Nose of assorted dark fruits; plum, blackberry. A little surprised in that this was medium bodied, which
was nice, for some reason I was anticipating a fuller/heavier wine. A nice wine to drink with or without food, 4 couples shared, all enjoyed.

  • This was an excellent example of a well made Washington Syrah.

  • Fidelitas Tasting (The Wine Alley, Renton, WA): Spice, earth tones, dark fruit, almost like Zinfandel on the nose. Bright acids and pronounced "zing" across the tongue, some jam on the midpalate. Lasting finish. Screams for meat and potatoes, red sauce. $26
