  • Second go at this vintage, the acid is pretty sharp and did not work with pulled pork with BBQ sauce. Needed a good bit of time to open up and relax.

  • Wine enthusiast recommended to wait until 2019, but I think this wine can be had now. It paired okay with some lasagna and mild italian sausage. It worked the best with some soft gouda though.

After first open out of the bottle, the oak is pretty noticeable, but if you let it breathe a bit that blows off. Blackberry, cherry, baking spices. The palate mirrors the nose, but there's some fairly tingly acidity (medium+ maybe?), tannins are there, but even without food are not overwhelming. Day 2, similar nose, and palate, but the fruit seems slightly less fresh and a bit more thick, but not in a bad way.

In general, a concentrated, but not overripe zin, quite nice value for about $15.
