Good for $9, but lacked a bit of structure for pairing with a Spanish chorizo/canelli bean dish. Better standalone. Richer fruit, chocolatey, a hint of biscuit/toast, veering towards plum/prune/raisin on the finish. Acid and tannin not particularly noteworthy.

$17 from Hazel's Beverage in Boulder. Decanted 1hr. At 15.2 abv, I was expecting more of a Napa style cab franc, however it is ripe but balanced. Nice notes of dark fruit, red fruit, slight gravel, cocoa, a little potpourri and herbaceousness hitting the varietal correctness checkboxes. Dark fruit and cocoa initially, but mid palate red fruit and florals. The finish is peppery/spicy with dusty tannins. I think this wine needs food and should not be pop and poured.
Paired with rosemary balsamic marinated steak tips, Olathe corn, and a vegetable millet salad.

Ripe plum, raspberry, spice, a hint of oak. Went okay with Santa Maria style tri-tip. For how ripe it is, it still had pretty zippy acidity at 15.2%.
