  • Deep yellow-green color. Rich, aromatic and very slightly wild nose with aromas of crabapples, even some cidery apple character, a little bit of honey, a hint of creamy oak barrel character and a touch of vanilla. Although the oak department gets more weight with air, the fruit stays on the fore all the time. The wine is gentle, smooth and juicy on the palate with very mellow yet still quite tactile presence and moderately full body. There are flavors of peach, juicy red apples, some woody oak spice, a little bit of creaminess and a slightest touch of vanilla. The structure is pretty smooth thanks to the medium+ acidity, but there is enough acidity to keep the wine from coming across as too soft or heavy. The finish is rich, but slightly short and dull due to the rather modest acidity. There are nuanced flavors of ripe apples, some creaminess, a little bit of exotic spice and a touch of butter in the aftertaste.

A rich, round and pleasant Mâconnais Chardonnay, but also one that is a bit too much on the passive side - the wine has that typical Texier depth and complexity, but it lacks a bit verve and energy, making it come across a bit too dull. Definitely a wine that needs some air yet still needs to be served cold, preferably with a dish that can push the acidity up a little. An enjoyable white Burgundy, but a bit underwhelming effort for a Texier. Perhaps his strength lies more in the wines of Rhône?
