  • Bought a flyer. Pours just a touch darker than expected, deep straw. The note is one of the more non aromatic I've ever experienced. Nothing. And I followed this over three hours. The palate has very high acidity, with some elements of brown butter, white flowers, kiwi, and tart grapefruit making up the mid-palate. Finish is a touch clipped on some bitter grapefruit pith notes. Not a wine I'd want to buy again.

  • Only 2 barrels of this juice made. You get a kind of simplicity at the start, thinking "hmm, ok, this is just a fruity Burg with loads of oak on it". But wait, just you wait. Softens up like a baby's butt cheek and preserves its electric acidity in the process. Good structure, proper balance and moderate finish. Solid effort.

  • Aged for 2 years in old 228-liter oak pièces. Only 2 barrels made. Vinified and bottled without any sulfites.

Medium-deep lime-greenish color. The nose is quite similar to the basic Texier Mâcon 2014 tasted alongside, but showing none of the banana character and instead a bit more creaminess, some smoky tones, more pronounced ripe apple and overall a bit more depth and complexity. The wine is ripe and quite broad yet very lively and fresh at the same time with medium-to-moderately full body and nuanced flavors of ripe golden apples, spicier and somewhat mealy red apples, a little bit of tart and almost unripe mirabelle plum, light chalky mineral tones, a hint of tangy lemony fruit and a touch of wet stones. The moderately high acidity lends good structure and sense of balance to the wine. The finish is fresh and lively with pure and lengthy flavors of ripe red apples, stony minerality, some creaminess, a little bit of pithy citrus fruit, light chalky bitterness and a hint of sappy white fruit.

This was obviously a step up from the basic Texier Mâcon. Not a huge leap nor an indifferent one either. Shows more depth and complexity with great sense of harmony. Overall a very attractive and pleasant effort already, but shows great potential for future development. Lovely.
