Obviously well and truly past any reasonable drinking window so we expected to pour it out. Initially completely dominated by woody notes on the nose and especially the palate. That eventually diminished and its gold color and some (oxidized) fruit meant many found it interesting and pleasant enough to sip; others were turned off. But very interesting and impressive nonetheless.

Seattle offline at Daniel's Broiler (Seattle, WA, USA): Lovely, pale green. A beautiful nose of grass, some lemon, and starfruit. This is very lithe but somewhat dilute on the palate, shy on fruit, high on acid, and thin on the finish. From the nose I was expecting much more, but I found this lacking.

This run away winner from our blind tasting is just a phenomenal expression of Sauvignon Blanc. Look out New Zealand, Mulderbosch isn’t just knocking on the door, it’s bustin' right through! Aromas of butter, lemon, minerals, charcoal and smoke. Pears, citrus, creamy apricot, green bean, steel, minerals and a touch of delightful burnt rubber on the lingering racy finish. Well worthy of a 92.

Lacking a bit of everything in my opinion (past it's peak?). My wife liked it though so the rating is indeed a compromise.

Clear winner at dinner party over Gary Farrell, Cloudy Bay and Nobilo. Good fruit with crisp acidity. Went perfectly with baked goat cheese.
