This is the highest rating I’ve ever given an Israeli wine, and I have drunk hundreds of them. Although the grapes are grown in the torrid central plain near Zicron Yaacov, this is not an oover-the-top, hit you in the face Aussie Shiraz or Napa Cab. It’s certainly well structured and muscular, but what really comes across is a complex, elegant style missing in so many Israeli wines. The tannins are nicely evolved, but they still hold the wine together. Exceptionally smooth mouthfeel, long finish, and a wealth of dark fruit. Elegant and classic, I’d have mistaken it blind for a fully mature right bank Bordeaux from a good year. Purchased at the Winery for a out $30.00; at that price it’s good value. Not kosher but certified vegan. Probably at its peak now, will probably keep for a few more years.

From an exceptionally hot vintage, this Bordeaux blend is dominated by Cabernet Franc with some added Petit Verdot and Carrignan. Seemed like a chinon, so I guess the CF was the main story, with a nose showing black cherry fruit, leather, toffee. Seems a bit severe on the palate, finish was a little short, hints of bell pepper. Quite a good wine for near term consumption with broiled or roasted beef.
