Ripe green apple, buttery brioche, banana peel, bruised lemon, roasted cashew, mesquite honey, and some oyster shell. On the riper side of the spectrum; missing some of the vivaciousness of the cleaner, crisper profile found in the NV. Came off slightly heavy on the back end.
Paired well with a carrot and herb orecchiette with goat cheese, but as a stand-alone drink it kinda missed the mark in the “lift” department. A good Champagne with some interesting, mature flavors, but not a wholly complete Champagne. 90-91 points? Drink now.

In which we made our own L'Etonnant M. Victor (Chicago, IL): This was another outstanding bottle of 2010 champagne. Sometimes I get scared of the vintage because it can get too heavily acidic and bracing, but this bottle showed a really good balance where that wasn't a problem at all. Perhaps coming a bit riper or maybe a spot more dosage than most?

Winewankers BYO; 3/25/2017-3/26/2017 (Jan Roger): BdB. Light golden straw colored. Nose with overripe bananas and otherwise ripe fruit. Complex palate with dark tones in the direction of coffee and mocha. Some overripe fruit also on the palate. Medium length.

Surprisingly sweeter than I expected - in a nice way. Honey, brioche, lemon and some minerals on the palette. Lush mousse. Enjoyed it very much.
