Ruby-red in color, aromas of ripened cherries and red fruits complement deeper tones of cassis and black pepper. On the palate, firm tannins and integrated acidity make for good structure and a long finish.

Pair this wine with pizza, tomato sauces, bruschetta, or even terrine de foie gras.

I'm a big fan of wines from Sardinia, as I always smell and taste a savory, briny influence from the sea which is never very far away. I am also becoming a big fan of the Monica grape. Even more than the typical Sardinian red, this one has a highly distinctive briny, sappy underlying evergreen influence to the "Old World" style wet earth, briary red and dark fruit. Almost full bodied. Probably a hint of lees treatment. Strong but not overly dry tannins. Something there just tastes different.

Deep ruby. Tight nose of strawberry and vanilla cola. Light to medium bodied, cranberries, tart cherries, no noticeable tannins, leather, and a medium finish. Not bad, but not that good either.
