  • Good ruby color with an amber orange rim. The nose is warm and meaty Pinot - correct and with some depth, though nothing special. Everything was timid in the beginning despite being opened six hours before dinner. Things integrated a bit but this is a good rather than great bottle. Shows best on the front end but fades rather quickly with an acidic bite that I wish wasn't there. There is that wonderful aged Pinot complexity but in an incomplete package. Enjoyable but not an aged grand cru experience. (89)

  • Medium pale ruby with the slightest hint of orange. An expressive nose of crushed red berries and a little bit of forest floor. Silky smooth feel yet a powerful presence. This wine just explodes on the mid-palate with a burst of classic pinot flavors. So light but so intense. There is a little bit of unresolved structure (seems more acidic than tannin like) that might be from slightly under ripe fruit. Either this needs a few more years, or this is the perfect time to drink while the fruit is still alive. I like this a lot. (18)
