  • The bottle was in perfect condition. The filling-level was into the neck, the cork was intact, no seepage. The wine was medium ruby in colour and offered good fruit, cherry, black currant, blackberry, plum, cedar, saddle leather, tobacco leaf, spices, cinnamon and balsamic notes, with lively acidity, fully resolved tannin and average to good length. The medium-bodied wine benefited from aeration in a small decanter and became well-balanced and incredibly smooth after about 45 minutes. The finish could have been longer, but the wine's smoothness and balance easily made up for it. Classic Bordeaux. Great value! This is Bordeaux! Drink now.

  • The label was worn and the cork was soaked, but minimal seepage, the filling-level was into the neck. The wine was medium garnet and seemed fragile upon opening, with limited aromatics and pronounced acidity: I was worried that the wine might be falling apart and decided not to decant. But then, after about an hour the wine pulled itself together nicely and the nose opened up to floral notes, withered flowers, red and dark fruit aromas, mint leave, saddle leather, tobacco leave, earthy notes and spices. On the palate the win them showed red, blue and dark fruit, some coffee, tobacco, spices, cinnamon and earthy notes, complemented by a floral component, with good acidity, fully resolved tannin, a good, smooth mouthfeel and good to very good length. The medium-bodied wine kept improving as time passed and became smooth and nicely balanced and drank very well. I would encourage decanting in a small decanter for at least one hour. Good value. Drink now.
