Tasty Bordeaux with ample dark fruit - blackberry, cassis. Leather, earth, mocha, violet, fennel, jalapeno, cedar. Ample structure and nice med - acidity. Smooth med tannins finish a little firm. Finish is long and lovely. Decanted 1.5-2hrs which was needed, 1/2 bottle double decanted and enjoyed the next day - holds up but not much evolution.

A very reasonable, pleasant and now nicely maturing entry level L bank merlot-dominant Haut-Medoc by a very interesting and knowledgeable winemaker with a strong scientific bent towards research on the intersection of the vines, terroir and insect population on his property - great visit there and bottle bought on site. Good QPR wine at our on-site aqcuisition price. Sipping beautifully right now and this was also put in as the red wine into a pot of Croatian high country Slavonian Cobanac meat stew. Drink or hold - very approachable and drinkable right now but has a good at least 5-10 years left with proper cellaring. Well balanced, medium bodied with a medium length aftertaste. Dark fruit forward nose with a pleasant somewhat simplistic merlit-dominant flavor profile of oak, cassis and dark plum with more strawberry and mocha on the mid-late palate. Recommend for what it is and with further maturation expect a likely 1 point score improvement.

Appearance - deep ruby. More transparent on rim. Core is pretty murky.
Nose - been open a while and it’s quite fragrant. Definitely getting the alcohol eye burn. Listed as 14.5 abv. Getting burn on nose. Black fruit. Plum. Black cherry. Ripe. Black cherry dominates.
Palate - medium plus body. Tannins are medium. They are there. Feel them when you swallow. Makes you salivate for another sip. Feels young and on the ascent. It’s not all combined yet ( aka balanced). Baking spices. Cedar. And actually like fresh cut cedar. Black fruits here too. Definitely dominating black cherry. Juicy. Finish is medium. The alcohol on palate isn’t standing out as noticeable.
I say it is young and will be curious with aging. But you can drink now. Though for the price…..too soon.

Medium purple/ruby. Aroma makes clear that the dominant varietal in this is Merlot. Flavor is also (obviously) Merlot-heavy, and was enjoyable over the two evenings that I consumed this bottle.
