This is a red blend from the Riccamondona IGP appellation non the Caserta province of Campania. The producer is Villa Matilde, one of the largest producer in Campania. We visited this winery in August 2018. The wine is a dark ruby with the core not true to the rim ( showing the bottle aging 7 years as we tasted, the wine was cellared very well ). The viscosity is medium high ( 13.5% abv). The nose is quite intriguing with great complexity of intense aromas ( black cherry , dry black figs) secondary notes of chocolate and licorice ), the palate confirms the nose with a medium body, a perfectly balanced acidity and velvety tannins. In summary a very good wine, warm, structured and complex with a long persistence. It could be paired with pasta with meat sauce, either pizza or pasta with meat sauce. PM: 91
