Cellar Door Provisions: Very interesting, but not as enjoyable as it was interesting. Really nutty and oxidative but with an undertone of fresh acidity. This may be the oldest bottle of juice i've ever had?

Dinner at Cellar Door Provisions (Chicago, IL): I'm actually not sure whether this is chardonnay or savagnin. It was sold to me as chardonnay, but there is no mention of the grape anywhere on the label. In any case, I quipped that this reminded me of 1996 white Burgundy. Take from that what you will. A bit nutty, there are some oxidative notes to it for sure, but there's a freshness underlying it, which is what makes this so interesting. But alas, at the end of the day, I think this is more interesting than good.
