  • The blackcurrant fruit is still quite fresh. The wine is rich, concentrated and quite smooth, although just a tad too sweet for my tastes. The mid-palate complexity is a little subdued. There are some subtle graphite and pencil shavings flavours, and some dark cured meats, but not a lot else going on. The tannins are fine and the balance and length are good. The one big positive is that there is some lovely cool mint on the back palate to help the wine down. All in all it’s a nice enough wine, it’s just not very exciting. I’d happily pay $30-$40 a bottle for it. But $180 a bottle is just bonkers, and $60 a bottle is still a little over the odds.
