Served in a Zalto Bordeaux stem. Once the barrel funk blew off, this wine demonstrated classic cab notes of cassis, blackberries, lead pencil, and the slightest hints of eucalyptus and dried tobacco. Supple and tangy on the palate, providing enough acidity to cut through our red meat. As the fruit continues to fade, however, the acidity might begin to eclipse the fruit, so I’d consider drinking soon. Note: after about 2 hours, the acidity came into alignment with the fruit.

Annual Caroling & Chili Party (R&D's): Magnum, decanted off its sediment and put in the lineup. Starts out with an intriguing floral quality which gives way to dark plummy cabernet fruit. Hints of saddle leather and spice as well. Plum and leather on the palate. Fully resolved and ready to go. (R&R)

Ex chateau. Well integrated tannins, tertiary notes, classic CA cab all day long. Doesn’t appear to be on its way out, drink now or over next 5(?) years.

Cellared since release and this wine is finally showing its true colors for me. Earthy, mature fruits and delish. Could mistake this for a top Bordeaux all day....fruit bomb descriptor is long gone and me likey!

Fruit is still evident on the first taste for its age.
