The aromas and flavors are still good in this bottle, but I would consume within no more than 2 years. Unfortunately, this is my last bottle (this vintage - but absolutely have more Morlet in the cellar, don't you?) The wonderful dark cherry with earthy flavors and the long lasting finish make this one of the better pinots in California.

This ripe and layered Pinot is incredible right now, with a full and grainy mouthfeel that helps counterbalance the exuberant (but not sweet) fruit. Cherry red in color and full in body, the wine offers aromas of pie cherry, raspberry, trumpet mushroom, and Greek oregano. Flavors of fresh strawberry, cranberry, anise, and chives, with a gracious and layered finish that keeps all the balls in the air at once (i.e., fruit, acidity, tannin). 14.5% alcohol. Decant at least two hours, if not more.
Tonight the Morlet edged out a 2015 Rivers-Marie Summa Old Vines, which was drinking beautifully as well. While both were sophisticated wines, the Morlet had an added texture and depth that were beguiling. I've struggled recently with whether CA Pinot is just sugar, cherry, and alcohol in a bottle (e.g., Kosta Browne, Sea Smoke), but this wine shows that brilliance is at least possible. 95 for now, with upside in 2023 or later.

Great nose like cherry moss. Very balanced. I like the light but noticeable tannins, just right acidity and dryness. Flavor is tart cherry Pinot fruit forward but a healthy dose of terrior. Definitely more California than France but a great amalgamation of each’s best attributes. Very good.

Luc...does it again! Excellent with our turkey on Thanksgiving. Another 5 years of life in this wine, but very good now!

Decanted for 1.5 hours. Young but opened up nicely. Light Burgundian quality. Will open next bottle in a year or so.
