  • Prior bottle was exactly a year ago and this wine remains in a very good spot. Black cherry, light spices and earth notes on the nose as well as a general note of sweet, mixed blackfruits. Between medium and full bodied with black cherry and just some hints of red cherry upfront, moving to black raspberry through the middle. There's excellent overall density as well as depth of fruit through the mid-body. However when you add in the spices, acidity and tannins on the back, the result is an increasing sense of balance. In general, I'd say balance has improved slightly since my prior bottle and also noticeably improved in this bottle over the course of 2+ hours open. Once it fully came together this wine showed quite impressively, with perhaps even room for additional positive evolution. I'll plan to open my last bottle in June/July 2024.

  • Prior bottle was almost exactly a year ago and the wine has improved along the lines I'd hoped/anticipated. Both black and red cherry notes on the nose along with spices and earth qualities. Nose was much prettier and less unidimensional (all power blackfruit) as compared to my prior bottle. Between medium and full bodied with both black and red cherry upfront, evolving to darker cherry with just some light hints of black raspberry through the middle. Integrated spices and earth notes and tart black cherry notes come in on the back. The tart notes and overall tannins/structure are noticeably better balance with the fruit than in my prior bottle. The mid-body has opened up as I'd hoped and the transition from mid to finish is better integrated. Wine should continue to improve along these lines and clearly has the elements for a long life. Next bottle for me will be June/July 2023.

  • Dark red fruits, boysenberry, w hints of pomegranate, sweet ripe fruit but tartness to balance. Despite being so big, it remains balanced and light on its feet. Fantastic!

  • A fantastic effort from Morlet, and one of my favorite Sonoma Pinot Noirs. A confident bouquet of red cherry, sous bois, flowers, and spice box. Medium bodied, fresh, good depth and a focused finish. Will evolve and improve for at least another 5+ years.
