This is shut down tight as a drum. It is not evolving quickly...it is evolving slowly, like many other 2013 Barolo cru from traditional producers. The light hue is not an indication of maturity...this is Nebbiolo, which often shows pale color - especially in certain vintages. This was tough to to drink, massively tannic, and remained surly and defiant through 3 hours of decanting. Leave this alone for a minimum of 5 more years...more likely 10 or so.

Richly chocolatey and truffly. Astringent and tannic like strong Assam tea without milk. Cracked black pepper in the centre. This is a super wine but I wonder whether it's starting to plateau. It's at its peak at only 10 years. Odd because I was expecting it to be marginally superior to the 2010. But still very good.

Rich garnet red. Complex nose of rich earthy savory notes of dried herbs, flowers and ripe black fruit marinated in alcohol. Next to the expressive nose the palate is much less interesting. Looks and feels older than it is. Easy drinking but nothing extraodinary.

Håller inte ihop helt. Lite orent och nästan övermogna jordgubbar i smaken. Inget vin som imponerar på mig och när det står bredvid chiara boschis cannubi från samma år så är det tydligt vilket som är bäst

This can be drunk now but is really too young (though as per others’ notes, it’s brickish appearance shows much more mature). Light-bodied, floral, with pleasant tannins, but not much in the way of secondary notes. It does not bode well that it was decidedly worse on day 2. If it’s going to get significantly better, that may not happen until ten years from now. More likely, this will never be all that great (though it’s not bad either).
I’ll commit now to not drinking my other bottle until 2032 and will report back then.
