  • With Fletch and AW in Marlow. Lovely aromatic nose - roses to gr fore here with a pure red-fruited heart. Medium bodied, elegant, pure strawberry fruit, truffle notes, mostly resolved very fine tannins, vibrant acids, very good length finish. Excellent touching outstanding, drinking well.

  • Very good tasting. Bottle inherited from my dad, perfectly maintained. In the glass deep ruby with tiny nail. Nose scents of rose, ground coffee, blackberry jam, grassy, licorice, spices and dried fruit. Good tannins, very elegant with a good minerality, non very persistent ending.

  • Barolo 96-04 Theme lunch at Nicolas.
    Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour with thin garnet rim. Legs.
    Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of brooding dark forest floor, dark red cherries, dark minerals. Developing.
    On the palate, dry, very high acidity, medium+ alcohol (13.5%), rounded high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of dark forest floor, minerals, dark red cherries, sweet plum. Long finish. More mellow after 72 hrs but otherwise maintaining form.
    Very very good quality. From an excellent vintage. Very nice drinking, and can also age and develop more.

  • 1 day slow ox prior to serving into 薄はり葡萄酒器 (“Fruit” day): Pale ruby to the eyes.

    Savoury red cherry fruits. White spices

    Richer in flavours but less full bodied than the 2008 tasted.

  • Mint, mineral, graphite. Elegant and energetic. Lacking flavour and concentration. Again, I preferred to concentrate this in a smaller glass.
