Overnight sample. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Appearance deep intensity, ruby colour with garnet rim. Lots of sediment. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of integrated chocolate oak, earth, wood spice, black plum, blackberry, blackcurrant. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol, velvety plush high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of plush blackberry, blackcurrant, sour dark plum, chocolate, earth, wood spice, some leather and meat. Medium+ finish. Good quality. But feels like it is toime to drink up. Quite evolved already for a 2005. Oh then I see that it is the 2nd wine of Gazin, yes for drinking up already.

At its perfect drinking stage now, great 2005 fruit and structure, tannins are fully resolved and all is in balance. Very good indeed if a little lacking in complexity, very enjoyable.

A private lunch (The Goring Hotel, London, UK): Youthful appearance; lovely lifted aromas of sweet crushed raspberry fruit, wonderful deep minerality, lovage; soft tannins, creamy, spicy oak, stylish; very good length. Delicious classic Pomerol, drinking supremely well, now - 2017.
