Sweet blackberries and raspberries, aniseed and a slightly bloody, mineral iron ore character I usually associate with Heathcote. Hints of umami, that fungal forest floor note, a bit Pinot-esque. Unmistakable Australian ripeness but the mineral and fungal notes do give it a Rhone-ish quality. Powdery tannins that build, I didn't notice them for a few sips. Given the tertiary notes that have emerged I reckon this is now in its peak window. Lots of fruit though so I think it'll be on the plateau for a lot of years yet.

Langton's VII masterclass with Andrew Caillard MW (W Hotel Guangzhou): This wine was to me everything i enjoy about Aussie Shiraz with out going over the boundary line of freshness or balance. clean and pure fruit, good weight, good acidity and some nice white strawberry and spicy notes came through as the tasting went on. very classy but not ready at all to drink. wait at least 5 years.

World Cup 2018: France vs Australia (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): Another slightly reductive wine, raisined fruit, fat better on the palate with raisins, blackberry, black pepper, silky tannins, long finish introduces alcohol heat.
