A small monopole, purchased by Gérard Perse in 2001. Its good to see that Chateau Pavie has expanded its horizons outside of SE, and has created a high quality wine at an affordable price point of circa USD 50, that is reasonably early drinking. I would recommend to wait circa 6-8 years after the bottling date.
Blend: 80% Merlot, 10% Cab Franc, 10% Cab. Preparation: Double-decanted, 2 hours. Appearance: Purple, very dark and opaque. Nose: Black fruits with freshness of new oak too. Palate: Rounded, with good density. Cherries as well as blackcurrants. Mouthfeel: Medium body Tannins: Grippy initially. Gradually more dusty as our dinner progressed. Acidity: Medium Finish: Medium length.
Terroir and geography: Cotes de Castillon is located due east of St Emilion and south of Fronsac, on the right back of Bordeaux. It is devoted solely to producing red wine, with the dominant grapes being Merlot and Cab Franc.
The Gérard Perse family already owns Châteaux Pavie, Pavie Decesse, Monbousquet as well as Bellevue-Mondotte.
In 2001, with Clos Lunelles, this portfolio grew to include a serious reference in the Castillon appellation. The Sainte Colombe plateau, the highest point of the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux, is located in the extension of the Saint Emilion limestone plateau.
Located only a few kilometres as the crow flies from Château Pavie!
This wine was paired with Foie Gras Terrine, at the Chateau Pavie dinner, hosted by Milawa and joined by Olivier Gailly (Commercial Dir), held at Mandarin Grill (MO, Kuala Lumpur). Joined by the usual suspects, including SL, Sha, and Romz with PN too.

Too much of everything and for me not what I was expecting from bdx, also not right bank. Not a bad quality but not my style of wine. Will give them as gifts away to people who like more southern italy wines. They will get surprised that they actually will like Bordeaux. Again, nothing with the quality, this is all given. But the grade of extraction is for me too high.

This, Lunelles... Should be cellared for at least 5 years! Then drink once a year thereafter.
Had a few glasses left in the decanter overnight,. Led me to confirm that this Clos Lunelles can be ready now if you must, but will last a decade with proper cellaring.
It's deep purple. Opaque. Deep dark fruits and berries herbs and earth. It's tannic and structured and balanced and full bodied. A 45-60 second finish.

Decant it hours and hours ahead!!! Or better, leave it lay there without doing anything at the moment.
(Did a taste test with another fave Andrew Will's, Sorella Champoux from Washington State... I think truly the very best Bordeaux blend, virtually anywhere, including Bordeaux?)

Coravin pour. Even with 3+ hours of air this was still super tight. Next pour I'll give it more time in the glass. Still pretty tasty though!
Update: Another pour the next day and waited 4+ hours this time. Really opened up after that. Bumped my rating up from 90 to 91
