Community Tasting Notes (2) Avg Score: 91 points

  • Barrel sample. 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc. 14% alcohol. The wine was dark ruby in colour and offered red and dark fruit, oak, some spice, vanilla and a rubber component on the nose. On the palate the wine showed sweet, ripe red and dark fruit, oak, vanilla and tobacco, with medium-level acidity, slightly drying medium-plus tannin, and very good length. The wine was riper than most of the other samples, yet the tannin was less refined, and I am a little concerned about the wine's slight bitterness and its drying end. I very much preferred the Château Plince, which sells at half the price.

  • Chocolate-covered black raspberries, licorice and smoky notes create the perfume. On the palate, the wine is plummy, round, fresh and sweet. There is a good purity of fruit in the satin finish.
