  • Burgundy Tasting (Restaurant Schweizer's, Stuttgart): Glass: Spiegelau Burgundy
Nice bubbles, but compared to the great Champagnes we had today it is like a football match between FC Nowhere against Real Madrid. Lacks the elegance and finesse of Champagne. Nevertheless good as a palate cleaner. 87-88

  • Appearance: Bright and clear, the wine is of light lemon colour, with medium sized bubbles, rims and legs.
Nose: Clean, with light intensity aromas of citrus fruit of grapefruit and lemon, green fruit of green apple, autolytic notes of yeast and biscuit, mineral notes of stony, floral notes of acacia. The wine is youthful.
Palate: Dry with high acidity, the wine has medium alcohol, with medium (-) body and medium (-) intensity flavours of citrus fruit of lemon, green fruit of green apple, floral notes of acacia, autolytic notes of yeast, mineral notes of stony. The wine has a medium finish.
Conclusion: Good quality Italian Spumante with a light nose showing decent complexity, with floral, citrus and yeasty characters followed by a stony note. On the palate the wine has refreshing acidity, delicate and light, with decent concentration and complexity in flavours, a reasonable length on the finish. It is ready to drink now and can further develop for another 4-6 years.
