  • 45-min decant at initial tasting; dark, frothy purple color; dusty nose that reminds me of a windy day at a crappy beach where the sand is half Humanafide dirt; touch of Welches grape juice; some cherry; little oak, tobacco, and vanilla; nothing too exciting though. This is a bit of a throat-burning experience, so the alcohol's not well contained. Otherwise, this transitions nicely through its various phases: starts off not too exciting with dusty flavors of cherry/oak/vanilla that lead to an above average silky mid-palate, which itself dovetails into a juicy, medium length finish where the tobacco and anise kick in alongside semi-drying tannins. Not too bad, if a bit boring, and if not for the heat and tendency towards a lack of precision, this might rate higher.

  • Dark color with dark fruit. Nice wine but not outstanding.

  • Had with potatoes and pork tenderloin roasted outside. Opened up quickly. Lot of red fruit aroma, fairly prominent oak. Flavor is sweet Merlot, smooth, not very astringent. A very nice drinkable wine.
