Lovely wine predicated on fine grained soil notes and bosky, brambly berry fruit, with a savory undercurrent of woody herbs. Fabulous with rabbit and spring vegetables and no slouch with the cheese plate. While not a lauded vintage, I’ve loved 2004 Loire reds since release. And this is a lovely bottle that belies the reputation for Joguet in this era.

A lovely Chinon whose finesse belies the tough reputation of this period for Joguet. Fine grained soil notes, bosky, brambly berry fruit, and some herbal nuances. 2004 doesn’t quite suffer from an outsized reputation as a vintage, but so far as Loire reds go, I’ve enjoyed many since release. Heck of a bottle with rabbit and a passel of spring vegetables and no slouch with the cheese course.

Good, but slightly underwhelming given the reputation of this rare cuvée. Quite bright notes of redcurrant and cranberry, great finesse and elegance, the usual Joguet nobility, but a little drying and bland on the finish. The normal cuvée is better for less. Probably needs drinking quite soon since I don't see enough persistence for it to improve.

Pleasant but not much complexity or potential.
