  significantly better than the 1989 vintage, confirming just how well many of the 88 burgundies have aged.
  Cork extracted in good condition; fully soaked but no damage.
  Not decanted but allowed to warm up in the glass.
  Medium plus color with little browning considering the age.
  beautiful aromas of mature Volnay and texture to match. soft tannins combining with good acidity to keep wine lively without taking away its soft texture.
  Iron, fruit, cloves on the nose with more evolved aromas following.
  Exquisite balance, excellent length, really nice wine at its peak.
