  Deep ruby. Leather on the nose. On the palate medium acid, high alcohol full body. Blue fruits and tobacco, the tannin is in control. Punches above its price point, drinking pretty well but still primary and has the stuffing to improve further. Very good.

  {Tasted from bottle twice, in mid and late September} Smoky, perfumed wine with excellent balance, persistence, and depth. The quality of the dark red and black fruit and the tannins, and their balance, is very well judged. This is really excellent wine and showed better than some 2005 and 2007 Chateauneuf-du-Pape opened at the same time. I've had many vintages of this wine including the inaugural - 1985? - and this is the most impressive I've had. If you can find it, buy it!
  
  Can be drunk now with pleasure but will hold for 20 years. Great stuff. I think the Vinous review from several years ago does not reflect how the wine is showing now.
