  • In an epic night, where my BOYZ wine night had the theme of Barolo, this was a great wine. I cooked an amazing feast. Homemade Cesear salad, penne Putanesca, and veal chops with a porcini mushroom sauce. All i have to say is this: we drank 6 epic bottles of Barolo. What made the magic happen was the porcini mushroom sauce. The wine and the mushroom sauce are a match made in heaven. Truly one of the best pairings of my life. I spent a lot of time on the sauce, and it paid off with the wine pairing. Un-fucking-believable!! It did not hurt that the Veal chops I served I slow cooked for two hours on low heat, so that they were perfection with the porcini sauce. Wow!!

  • Very nice. Patience paid off. Paired with Florence’s San Lorenzo lasagna. Damn, I love Italy.

  • This 2013 vintage was a lovely gift from my son-in-law. Perhaps we opened the Nebbiolo red a touch early (based on several professional reviews) but it was still an enjoyable Barolo during a family celebration - paired with roast turkey dinner.

The pure delicate expression of the Cannubi cru opens with aromas of wild berries, roses, and tobacco. It offers a palette of sour cherry, pomegranate, and a touch of anise. It has a long complex finish, ending with a dry, chalky sensation. It opens up nicely after decanting.

According to Robert Parker, “This is one of the most popular and important wines made by Marchesi di Barolo.” So for CTers fortunate enough to have 370+ bottles in their cellars, it’s worth leaving this red in the bottle for several more years.

    Cheers. 🍷
