3rd of 6. This bottle seemed to be lacking fruit a bit. It has loads of tannins and acidity though. It is enjoyable with food. Hopefully it's just in a phase where the fruit is hiding.

2nd of 6. This is aging nicely. Still a youthful presentation visually. The tannins have softened a little bit and the aromas are opening up (black cherry, roses, licorice). There is nice acidity and a fairly long finish, which is not too drying despite the (still somewhat overpowering) grainy tannins. The palate feels a hair thin but there is a decent amount of fruit left. It's pretty balanced despite the 14.5% abv. Drink now through 2028.

N: Closed; Notes of tar & earth with poss rose petals underneath?
P: Med body; Nice, almost swtish frt met by astringent pucker but without ever remotely losing its swtness as it fairly seamlessly transitions into a LONG, very, VERY slightly bitter finish with an elegant swtness to the very, VERY fine tannins with surprisingly incipient pucker for this DOCG. NEEDS 2 yrs (?), then drinking through its 10th. 14.5% ABV; My EXC-, more down the line? 92 pts WE @ $58. [I've no way to compare this vendor's $49.95 as no other U.S. vendors are currently showing on wine-searcher.]
Note: The 3rd time I've tasted this in ≈ 4 mos, each time it seeming INCREASINGLY earlier maturing for this DOCG. [Today that sentiment was ALSO felt by a more experienced colleague.] So, I've gone with a middling approach to my drinking range...

Too tannic at this point. Full bodied. Not terribly expressive at this point, fairly closed. Try again in a few years.

Medium bodied Italian red. Went well with spiced butterflied chicken. Soft tannins. Some spice. Doubt it would last to 2025. 2021 maybe.
