  There's a part of me that wishes I hadn't just opened one of these a few months ago, but with the release of the 2018 vintage, I couldn't resist. This is drinking excellently, with solid wood and vanilla on the forefront, and some subtle fruit from the quad coming in on the backend. Still doesn't taste like any other quad, and that's why it's one of my favorites.

  I hate to admit that I love this particular quad because it doesn't taste much of anything like a standard quad, but it's true. After nearly a year and a half of aging, this is still holding up great, presenting some mildly sweet fruit notes that hide behind a barrel presence that's all caramel and wood with a touch of vanilla. It may not feel terribly true to style, but it's delicious and ages well, and that's enough for me.

  Shared with a buddy as a welcome to Chicago! Rich woodiness, vanilla, and mildly burnt caramel come together in a rich, luscious, but not too-heavy delight.
