Tasted blind. Bright chardonnay elements without the textural thickness of pinot brings to mind the blanc de blanc profile, which I asked Warren, but he said this was not a BdB. ? Turns out it was when the bottle was further examined. First time with this producer, and its nice showing. The reputation of 1996 precedes it, and this bottle delivers.

Wonderful Ambonnay Vintage Blanc de Blancs. Drank as Thanksgiving apertif. Nice Chardonnay, mildly doughy nose with faint, early hazelnut aromas. Just enough acidity to stand up to the fruit.

Beautiful vintage champagne from this petite chateau. This keeps getting better. At ten years, showing no signs af nearing peak. Cellartracker lists it as Blanc de Blanc, but I'd swear its mostly Pinot Noir. Gorgeous fruit balanced with perfect acidity and notes of its lees, without being overly doughy. I've got 6 left, but wish I had more.

Grand Crew Bellingham raids my cellar; Huet, Rhys, Ceritas, Breton, Charvin, VT and others (Bellingham, WA): Jenise nailed it as a Blanc de Blancs with some age. Not nearly as nice as the bottle I opened six months ago (that one led me to buy some of the '04). Still very nice, not too oxidative, apples, brioche. Gentler mousse than my last bottle. Solid wine, but a disappointment for me after my last '96 Coutier.
