Medium deep. Very lifted nose. Lime and zest. Petroleum. A very tight mineral edge. Dry but with a hint of sweet fruit. Very tight acidity. Mineral and lemon. A touch of unripe white stone. A very pleasant refreshing Riesling with a classic dry profile.

I was so pleased to see this generic Nahe Riesling from a good grower on sale in rural France that I ignored its poor QPR at close to €30 and stretched for it. It turned out to be what an entry level dry Riesling should be, namely fresh white fruited, fragrant with a whiff of the usual petrol, mineral, quite soft textured with lively acidity but overall a bit simplistic. Don't think that this would be great QPR even at the price of c.€15 at which it can be had from Germany but good wine nevertheless.

For such an inexpensive wine, the few years in the cellar were quite kind to this bottle. Still quite fresh and zippy but with more complexity.

Not as keen on this vintage compared to the 2017 vintage. Heavy lime notes and citrus notes. A subtle note of green apples.
