Trinity Hill with John Hancock and Warren Gibson; 11/4/2015-11/5/2015 (Regional Wines and Spirits, Wellington, New Zealand): Product of a warm vintage - more like a normal Bordeaux vintage, in that there were consistent hot days - which is not the norm for Hawkes Bay, despite the similar heat summation levels. Dense purple/ruby - only subtle hints of aging - very youthful. Cedary, with lifted blackcurrant fruit. A touch of tell-tale bell pepper brings a real kiwi accent to this blend. This is a wine built on fruit expression. Very dry, solid and elegant with a particularly nice balance. Due to the vintage, there is a predominance of Cabernets - CS 37%, CF 15%, with Merlot at 38% and PV at 8% with 2% of Malbec. Outstanding.

Top 100 Farewell Dinner 2015 (Rodwell House): (Tasted Blind): 37 CS, 38 Merlot, 15 CF, 8 Malbec with the rest of Petit Verdot. A lifted nose of sweet spice, intense black fruit and dark chocolate. The palate continues with a soft, airy entry, lively acidity, and chocolate, all finely woven together that culminate in a concentration and richness with elements of coffee/mocha, blackcurrant with a sweet purity, and a savoury umami finish. Somewhat elegant, with medium alcohol, it is modern with slightly baked tannins and a touch of damson bitterness on the close.

Dense peppery aromas with sweet black cherry and bramble berries, smooth but could do with a few more years
