Medium-pale brick red color. On the nose, juicy red fruit aromas of cherry and strawberry, mixing with tobacco, smoke, cedar, and dried rose petals. On the palate, it's bright and lithe, with transparent fruit and a very floral and spicy kick. Very perfumed on the finish--its bouquet seems to hover in the air. Very elegant stuff.
Definitely stand this up and let it settle for a while before pouring. I did not, and my first glass had a lot of suspended pulp.

Completely different from my 2010s, but very pleasant nonetheless. Floral and fragrant, this is light and elegant. Feels not unlike some Nebbiolo from La Morra, but the cherry has more of that bitter almond and there is a touch of tobacco. Ample acid and tannin beef up the structure, which can nicely subsitute for pinot when pairing with game.

Montalcino (Dig Wines, San Francisco): Pale. Fragrant, herbal nose. Light, red/black fruit, high acid and some VA, earthy, grippy finish. Every mark of a cool year wine.
