Bought this at a clearance sale only because it was the last one left @$40 and boy it did it ever outperform.
Nose was so fragrant upon opening with scents of dark fruits, lots of leather, cigar box, and some savory spice. A bit of VA as well but it quickly blew off with half an hour of airing while we plated dinner of Wagyu beef stew with butter and herb tagliatelle.
Colour was opaque of deep purple and you would have never known it was 20-years old. Good body with perfectly integrated tannins and surprisingly lively acidity. Pronounced dark fruits of cassis, blackberry, earthiness with some kind of nuttiness, menthol and warm wood. Very nicely balanced. Finish was light and short but nevertheless satisfying.
Didn't expect too much of this but definitely worth the price paid and some more. May not improve much more than this but if cellared correctly, still has a few years to go before it starts fading.

Bright ruby in colour! A little orange hue! Nose of oak cask and sweet black fruits! Watery in texture and super smooth! With some coaxing, the nose becoming sweeter! A wine to enjoy now and over the coming next couple of years! Simple and delicious!

Wine Education Service Bordeaux Second Wines Tasting (LSE, London): Slightly brickish at the rim. Very earthy and leafy nose. Quite woody, vegetal and developed. Think you can detect the Cab Franc in here. Palate has a silky delicacy, and the fruit is very present especially on the finish. Very good and very good value for a second wine of a top property.

More rounded fruits than complex tobacco, perfectly ok if ordinary.
