  • Rather an untypical example from Rioja as it contains a significant amount of Graciano and Garnacha besides the traditional Tempranillo. Therefore it reminded me of Grenache-based wines of Southern Rhône, which would be my first guess if tasted blindly. Overall, not the most complex wine, but without notable flaws. So, a sure recommendation.

  • Lively, fruity and youthful Rioja made by mastermind Telmo Rodriguez. Tempranillo based blend with Garnacha and Graciano harvested from 80 year old vines grown at 600 meters of altitude. Medium+ ruby colour. Medium light intensity aroma of blackberries, earth, plums, cherries, hint of iodine. Medium body, fresh and lively palate with light complexity of earthy black and red fruits, vibrant acidity and powdery tannic structure.

  • Deep purple in colour with a garnet rim. nose: crushed flower blackcurrant plum ripe fruit white pepper close close and caramel. Not over oat like so many reds these days, given Rodriguez affinity for minimal Oak ageing in American barrel. I love that he likes the wine and grape express the terroir rather than mask with oak

Palette: dry, medium to high acidity, sharp tannin carrying the alcohol Contant well big body with pronounced primary flavour of black cherry black currantDried fruit mint with luxuriousMouth feel. Will age well. I’ll keep one for 5-10 years
