Cork color deep crimson - not surprised. Medium depth core with garnet edge. Nose of currant and plum, matching the palate, plus some mulberry lingering. Label indicates 14% alcohol but mellowed by the age, 'tis the reason I waited to open for all worthy wines! Aromas and flavors remained consistent over 2 hours time. Medium light tannin - I would not object "medium" tannin, but tannin is a friend and as long as well integrated, I welcome it. I'm also glad I didn't wait for longer to enjoy this '04 Zin by UNTI.

One of my favorite Zinfandels, this one is more refined and complex than many other ostentatious and over-the-top Zinfandels. There's big fruit and spice, but has plenty of acid and tannin to match courtesy of the 20% grenache in the blend, even after 2 hours of decanting. With that much structure, I felt we could have left this to age for another year or two to soften the edges a little while still maintaining the great fruit character.

needs to be decanted, well defined and bright berry wine, medium to full body, only small amount of tannins for earthyness. very drinkable
