Best bottle of this yet, and my last. Ending on a high note, after lots of variation with other bottles, this one had it all: rich and dark fruit that was wonderfully tertiary, with leather and balsam notes. Plenty of structure and freshness here - enough for a bold bolognese. A passable impersonation of a Tuscan sangiovese, actually. Though this particular bottle seemed like it had years to go, given my less-than-stellar experiences with the others, I’m happy to have opened it when I did.

Drink by 2020 in my cellar; 3/1/2020-7/8/2020: No what other bottles have been, this is maybe a couple of years past its prime. An Old World style, now with many tertiary notes. I recommend drinking these within a month or two: the wine is fading.

Not as stunning as the earlier bottles. This one leaned toward soy/tamari and a woodsy complexity but crowded out the beautiful red fruit the other bottles had shown. Finish was a bit thin consistent with the others.

Still great after all these years in the cellar. Very nice..very smooth. Still some nice fruit. Decanted for an hour or so. Had with roast beef.

Similar to the 2018 bottle rather than the 2017 bottle we opened. Still a big, outstanding wine, but not as spectacular as it was 2 years ago.
