PnP; good+. In the zone for my preferences, with subtle extract of white fruits, minerals that are more harmonious and complementary than jutting/sharp. Not a quaffer, by any means, and not something to contemplate, either. Enjoyable, good food wine. Drink now.

What a shame I didn’t pay more attention to the wine and take notes. It deserves to be remembered. But this week - our second of forced shut down by our overlords - is almost as exhausting as last week. By today, a Thursday, I’m just about wiped out. But my impressions are as I first described this wine last June when I wrote, “focused, intense gooseberry, creamed corn, lymon and dripping-wet limestone ... Bright fruit on the attack, decent length on the mid-palate and finish. Clean, bright and crisp with excellent balance on the tightrope of fruit and acidity.” It was well noted then and bears repeating now that, “La Garenne is a 2.5 hc vineyard north of Virdigny in the vintage of Chaudoux in Sancerre. Hand harvested, from what I could find. Someone is obviously taking care and concern. ” 13% alc. With shrimp and grits (and ample Old Bay). Recommended, and leaning hard toward Highly Recommended.

Wow! I was not expecting focused, intense gooseberry, creamed corn, lymon and dripping-wet limestone in this barely $20 bottle. But here it is! Bright fruit on the attack, decent length on the mid-palate and finish. Clean, bright and crisp with excellent balance on the tightrope of fruit and acidity. For some reason, I’ve not come across this wine since 2011 (and it was an ‘08 vintage). La Garenne is a 2.5 hc vineyard north of Virdigny in the vintage of Chaudoux in Sancerre. Hand harvested, from what I could find. Someone is obviously take care and concern. 13% alc. With crusty bread, chreve rolled in Old Bay, molé and finicchioli. Recommended, and leaning hard toward Highly Recommended.
