  • (Disgorged in the early 1970s)
Golden yellow colour with a mature nose showing minerals, red apples and some plums. Opens up with a lovely butterscotch note on the delicious nose. Smooth acidity on the palate showing a touch of minerals and lime zest bitterness on the lengthy finish.

  • (Disgorged in the 1980s)
Deep amber colour with just enough bubbles to keep it alive. Very mature nose showing honey, vanilla fudge and burnt notes. Palate shows freshness with acidity and mature apples and red gooseberries and with a burnt caramel tone on the finish. This was a good showing of an older mature champagne, but perhaps without that extra touch for extra excitement. Best with less than 30 years of extra cellaring...

A mid golden appearance. There's a good flow of fairly small, even bubbles. Rich nose, with an nondescript aroma of chardonnay. Very clean with good flavour. Very marked length, though it didn't feel particularly mouthfilling. Pleasantly dry, but not so much so that you need a drink. Very clean, crisp finish. Very Good/Very Good Indeed.
