Flavors of black currents, cassis, plum, earth and plum. Medium bodied with good acidity and firm tannins that are beginning to recede just a bit from earlier bottles. Stylistically, it recalls the heyday of California Cabernet before they became amped up in fruit and alcohol, though without the bell pepper note. Drinking well now, but will improve with 2-3 years more cellar time.

Opened one hour in advance. Aroma of berry fruit and cedar. Rich, slightly tart, flavors of cassis and loam. Tobacco notes in the finish.
Pure flavors, firm backbone, complex, with a classic cabernet profile. As always with IPR, a pure expression of the variety. Perhaps a notch below the Syrah and Zinfandel from the same site, but still amazingly good.

Taste of Humboldt - Briceland Wines (My Place - Washington, DC): Aromas of juicy black currants, sweet cocoa, leather, spiced tea, grilled herbs – nice! Sturdy tannins, medium acidity, well-framed with flavors of black cherries and dark plums. Bright but nicely structured with delicious savory, herbal, earthy and leathery tones. I’d love to bury this for four to six years.

Consistent notes with previous bottle. Somehow I didn't realize that I had consumed a bottle of this wine just 3 weeks prior...oops. Still, very good now and should improve.

Corked. Damnit. This was the third out of five unrelated bottles I opened that were corked that day. Worst corked ratio ever!
