Initially tight and reserved which was a bit of a surprise given BC’s reputation for bigger wines (this was labeled at 14.9%). As the air crept in, though, the fruit came out, in clouding some red berries and some vanilla. It never became a huge wine, which is fine with me, and was a nice accompaniment to the filet de porc en croûte.

Surprisingly good, deep nose showing some secondary earthy notes in addition to a ripe core of plum and cranberry fruit. Better cold, when it warmed the heat came out from the 15% alcohol. Needs more acid as the palate was a little too monolithic. This has held up well.

very soft cork under wax; needed an ah-so to remove; decanted, mostly for sediment; big and round very ripe plum with some tingle but not quite enough acidity to counterbalance; nice tobacco notes; a little heavy on the oak; might not have guessed pinot, but this has aged well, and is great fun to drink.

Rustic, smoky, a bit rough. Good flavors but not refined.
