There are plump and sweet black fruits a plenty in this delicious wine. It has a meatiness to it and plenty of mineral just below the flesh. It is complex, balanced and ethereal and a joy to drink now.

Initially very heady cassis nose whilst quite tannic on the palate. With time decaying roses, complex floral scents, cola, spice, mineralite. A very refined, weightless Vougeot.

Ghost of Clos Vougeot: Nose is actually neck and back with the ‘90. Secondary and earthy red berry fruit. Palate is sweeter and isn’t as complete as the '90 though, bigger tannin without the depth of fruit. Still good. Bottles directly from the domaine.

Dark ruby. Initially quite an austere, masculine, mineral nose which opens slightly after several hours to show a gentle thread of baking spice, mint and charred meats. The palate is sweet, vinous and dark fruited with a thread of Asian spice but is predominantly a very mineral wine. There is a very gentle mouthfeel, subtle depth and complexity, intense but weightless, a very fine, caressing wine that is altogether lovely.
