This was rightly heralded as a great wine in its youth, but those days are fading. It retains some of its glory, but I am not at all surprised that it has faded some. This is me saying goodbye before that great spiraling trip down the drain that all wine takes.
Nice red fruit, fresh raspberry and cherry notes with some coffee and chocolate spice notes woven in. Still very big tannins let this coast rather than crash into its inevitable end. The sign of a great wine is something that retains its character and balance as it ages, and this has done that very well.

Was our wine of the night against an Elu (St Supery) and an Old Crane Ranch (Biale). Perfect balance or fruit and oak. Very smooth. And for $20 a great deal.

I really just love this wine. I know that this note is useless without descriptors, but I just don't have anything else to say beyond that.

Fruit with a solid oak component. Well integrated. Nice mouth coating tannins. Great wine.
