Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Tasted side by side at dinner with the 2003 Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. Both are very nice wines, with the Sancerre predictably showing a less flashy profile. Very typical Sancerre - citrus, very light herbs, and zesty acidity, with good ripeness and balance. Solid Sauvignon. FWIW, while I slightly preferred the '02 Bourgeios Sancerre, most people at the table seemed to find the '03 Cloudy Bay more exciting: it showed fresh honeydew, lime and ripe grapefruit. An interesting comparison.
