Nice wine but not worth the CA$48 (SAQ). Nez : allumette, épices (bois), floral, bleuet et cassis, boite à tabac...très beaux arômes ! Souple avec des tannins ultra fins et son fruit discret. Notes salines. Facile à boire...léger et simple. Pourrait même dire dilué...déséquilibré. Court à moyenne finale. Boire sans tarder.

Gang of 4 in Covid19 times; South America (@ RW): In the bouquet cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. On the palate cherries, herbs and spices, oak, juicy acidity, mild tannin and a firm dose of sweetness. Overall an ok wine.

First time trying a more premium Argentinian wine. This is the iconic Catena Zapata’s take on a more old world style Cabernet Sauvignon 🍇. An assemblage of historic rows from 2 of the family’s high altitude vineyards (highest nearly 5.000 ft / 1.500 m) vinified separately.
This is a big and bold red with lucious dark fruit along with a powerful structure coming from juicy, spicy tannins. These are not necessarily traits I’d associate with high altitude but of course it’s still a new world red.
Edit: Adding on and concluding my notes on second day of tasting this: Lovely pairing with BBQ since it can really stand its own. Overall certainly a nice full bodied red but unfortunately I’m missing the balance here for an “old world style” high altitude Argentinian CS. The end is just a tad to ‘stingy’/hot with an overripe alcoholic touch. If this was a bit more well rounded/satin like in the finish this would def merit a higher score for me. Looking forward to tasting their Malbec which is presumably very nice!

Drukket over 3 dager, både med mat, entrecôte, og uten. Pen bordeaux-kopi, lite å sette fingeren på, og et godt kjøp.

Cherry notes, acrid and off putting through the finish. Sharp, bitter and tannic.
