  • PnP; Bottle says 11% but the legs make me wonder if that is a bit lower than reality. Great nose very much what I would expect with pear, beeswax, flint, and honeysuckle. Bracing acidity but balanced with pear, tons of beeswax, but the flint seems to transform to taste more like a combination of shale and chlorine–which lingers for 30 seconds. The mid is there but you really have to swirl it around to find it. Not my favorite Mosel but a solid 89-90 points. Next one I open will be near a hot tub or pool; what chlorine…?

  • Light gold color. PNP, drank a glass over 30 minutes. Shared this with a group of friends. In fact I was lucky to even get a pour. This group has become big fans of German Riesling and they were thrilled with this one. I found this to racy and energetic, filled with lovely stone fruits and tropical fruits, slate, modest fusil and apple blossoms. Very well balanced and excellent length. 92+ to 93pts.

  • From 75cl, good cork. Opened but not decanted 1 hour, deteriorated over the course of the evening. One of those fat, semi-sweet, slatey but definitely not racy or even mildly exciting German wines, this corpulent, self-satisfied Mosel isn't quite "Trinkmarmelade", but does fulfil the cliché of a citric-jammy potpourri—unspecific fruit salad with too many old sugary red apple slices and some maracuja/passion fruit stretched with cheap mango providing a little acid balance. Maybe better in 5 years, but don't hold your breath. Stuart Piggot gave this 94P, and I was dumb enough to believe him, so go figure. 86-87P(?)

  • Decanted nearly 60 mins to let the typical funky aroma to dissipate. Was quite nice, albeit VERY YOUNG. Had purchased 4 from a SoCal importer and was nervous about some of the early reviews. I will probably wait until 2023-24 to open the next bottle of this.
